Is A Themed Wedding For You?

I absolutely love going to events that center around a theme. Is the gym having an 80's themed "Let's Get Physical" event? Rad! I'll be there sporting my neon leg warmers while rockin' the side ponytail. Are the movie theaters having a Harry Potter movie-thon? Well Merlon's Beard! I'll dust off my cloak and bring my Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. Are you hosting a Dia De Los Muertos party this Halloween? Bueno! I'll be there with my Sugar-skull makeup on.

Do you have the same feelings as me when it comes to themed events? If so, then you're the perfect candidate to create a beyond memorable wedding. Whether your theme is subtle and sweet, or if you want a one- of- a- kind- off- the- chart type of wedding, you can't go wrong with either. Themed weddings allow you and your S.O. to showcase your personalities, so let that authentic side of your relationship shine!

Here at Oak Hill's Reception and Event Center, we've created many one-of-a-kind weddings. With the beautiful Wasatch Mountains in Layton, UT, as the perfect backdrop, or our rustic chick Barn Venue, it's accompanied many outdoorsy themed wedding ideas. One couple had a passion for hiking, where their first date was a hike, he proposed on a hike, and everything in between involved... you guessed it, hiking. We had the time of our lives putting up every lantern, pine tree, pine cone, and pine bow, to lend to the theme of their hiking themed love story.

Another couple wanted to have a themed wedding that celebrated the cultures of both their unique heritages. She was from a Greek descent and he had roots from South Africa. We created the most beautiful Mediterranean style wedding with grape vines hanging from our ceremony gazebo, our amazing caterers presented a beautiful charcuterie board as appetizers, and the Father of the Groom brought traditional South African candies for treats throughout the night. It was stunning! I may or may not have bawled my eyes out as the two of them said their vows and then planted this beautiful tree together as a symbol of their two lives coming together as one :)

We hosted this Tropical themed wedding just a couple of weeks ago. They met at school in Hawaii and wanted to reflect that in their wedding. On a dark and gloomy day, our Rustic Barn was lit up with the smell of pineapples, tropical flowers, and Hawaiian flavored ice cream for dessert!

And then there was this wedding...

The bride wanted anything but traditional. You'd think that we recently hosted this wedding, during the month of October. But you'd be wrong. This was smack dab in the middle of the summer! For months I saw this event sitting on my calendar and it couldn't come soon enough for me! The Mother of the Bride cracked me up as she was beyond baffled to the choices her daughter was making, but I couldn't be more proud. Her and her fiancés unique personality of being unconventional shone through loud and proud. Her choice of skull heads, books, candles galore, cactus' and elegant gold accents were the perfect combination to bring a Gothic romantic feeling to their big day.

And that's just to name a few! Our extensive list includes themes like: Vintage Lace, Cowboys, Christmas, South Western, Winter Wonderland, Woodsy, Neon, Quinceañeras, Rustic Autumn, and Vintage Latin (check out their getaway car! It was amazing!). You could go even more brave and have a Star Wars, Vintage Circus, or Great Gatsby themed wedding. Or you can take it on the simple side and have a Rustic, Vintage or Modern Theme. The sky is the limit!

A themed wedding isn't for everybody, but if it's for you, our staff is here to help you pull it off. We have reasonably priced upgrade options to help take your event to the next level, and our wedding coordinator (yours truly) is beyond excited and willing to give your theme all the perfect final touches. WHAT PEOPLE SAY

The venue was gorgeous and hosted one of the best weddings I've seen. The bridal room is gorgeous! The staff was amazing. From keeping all the bridesmaids and groomsmen in check (sorry we were a rowdy bunch!) To making sure everything was always clean and the guests were always served. The staff also wore masks (and gloves when necessary). Absolutely beautiful venue and great staff!
